Yes, but depending on a variety of things like where you live, and your electric rates it takes time. I have a system and I should break even in my 6th year. That was taking into account that electric rates increase at an average of 55 annually. In my area that is very low. Last year I think the increase was 7% next year they are talking 12%. So it will more likely be 5 years. The panels are warrantied for 25 years. I expect to save over $50K before they have to be replaced.

Yes, but over time… a penny saved is a penny earned, as Ben Franklin would say.

Solar panels are a costly investment. Due to the high price, many companies/people choose not to install them. About 70% of the light that hits a solar panel is wasted because the panels can only turn a certain wavelength of light into power. However, over a relatively long period of time, they will begin to save you money.

    Yes you do.

It is like buying your energy in bulk there are companies that guarantee 85% of the original power production after 20 years so basically you buy your electricity up front for 20 years. When you think about it of course it is pricy but as others have noted it locks in your price no energy hikes. Somewhere over that 20 years it would more than pay for itself some as early as 5 years some closer to 20.
