What is the difference between bid and buy on ebay?

I know it sounds like a stupid question but I just joined ebay and bidded on a one-of-a-kind item for about , but under the bid button it says buy it now for .99, if I click this do I automatically win the item for .99 and the auction ends? I just don’t get that. Thank you!

Yes, if u click on the Buy It Now, u automatically Win the item for $14.99 and the auction will end UNLESS the seller has multiple items listed.

Yes buy it now "wins" you the item immediately and you don’t have to wait for the listing time to expire.

That’s exactly what it is, up to a point. The option disappears when the first bid is placed or the secret reserve price is met, depending on the auction. If you think it’s worth $14.99 then you and the seller will both be happy.

"buy it now" is the price you will pay if you want to buy the item- that is, win it automatically and instantly, overriding any current bids for the item.
